Job Title: Slitter Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Slitter Operator to join our team in a hot, dirty, and fast-paced steel manufacturing environment. This is not a button-pusher role — we need someone who takes pride in full machine setup, precision, and quality.
Responsibilities
+ Perform complete setup of slitter machine including tooling, knife changes, and adjustments for length and cut specifications.
+ Measure and verify materials to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
+ Change out tools and knives based on job specifications and material requirements.
+ Monitor machine operation and troubleshoot issues to maintain production flow.
+ Maintain a clean and safe work area in a physically demanding environment.
+ Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
Essential Skills
+ Prior experience operating slitter machines in a steel or heavy industrial setting.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measuring tools.
+ Comfortable working in hot, dirty conditions and lifting heavy materials.
+ Willingness to train on day shift for 3–4 weeks before transitioning to 3rd shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with CNC and mechanical operations.
+ Proficiency in using measuring tools, hand tools, and performing inspections.
+ Experience with forklifts, labelling, and production processes.

Work Environment
The position is set in a steel environment that can be hot when it's hot and cold when it's cold. The facility can be dirty, but we are committed to building a great work culture. Training will occur on the day shift for 3–4 weeks, with a transition to 3rd shift.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
