Process Engineer
Job Description
As a Process Engineer, you will utilize scientific methods to develop the molding process for each mold, working closely with tooling and production personnel.
Responsibilities
+ Develop robust processes using scientific molding techniques, such as gate freeze analysis and short shot analysis.
+ Utilize and develop Design of Experiments (DOE) to meet process goals.
+ Document findings of samples and submit reports to the Process Lead, Tooling Engineer, and Program Manager.
+ Supply engineering files with DOE, process sheets, and water diagrams.
+ Collaborate with the quality group to verify product criteria.
+ Support production by starting up machines and problem-solving processes.
+ Share ideas to improve the team or processes.
+ Locate, safely transport, and store injection molds according to established guidelines.
+ Install and remove injection molds from assigned presses.
+ Set up and prepare auxiliary/secondary support equipment at the press.
+ Follow proper set-up and cycle sheets.
+ Document process control for sample presses and verify documents prior to set-up sign-off.
+ Visually check parts for defects and log information into paperwork.
+ Operate forklifts and overhead cranes during mold set-up as needed.
+ Maintain and promote a safe and clean working environment.
+ Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, and plastics injection molding.
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
+ 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
+ 6 years of experience in molding processes within the plastic industry.
+ Basic computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and email software, preferably in Microsoft Suite.
+ Thorough knowledge of plastic resins, mold set-up, and functions of an injection molding press.
+ Understanding of statistical process controls.
+ Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
+ Clear and legible report and correspondence writing skills.
+ Technical mathematical computation skills.
+ Detail-oriented and problem-solving abilities.
+ Maintain a positive attitude and adapt to changes.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to interpret various instructions and documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
+ Capability to walk, climb stairs, stoop, and perform various physical tasks.
+ Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unaided.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
