    We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

    Job Summary

    This role will be filled as an intermediate level position providing Mechanical Procurement Engineering services at Millstone Power Station. The Procurement Engineer is responsible for specifying technical and quality requirements to support procurement, verification testing, and acceptance of materials and services that are used in the nuclear power plant.

     

    The Procurement Engineer is exposed to a diverse set of challenges associated with procurement and quality control of nuclear power plant equipment. The work is often fast-paced and directly supports plant operation for Millstone Power Station. The Procurement Engineer is involved in a broad array of technical issues related to component replacements and material quality, interfacing routinely with Procurement Engineer peers, Materials Verification Lab inspectors, vendors and manufacturers, other Supply Chain groups, Engineering, Maintenance, Planning and other station personnel.

    The primary duties and responsibilities of a Mechanical Procurement Engineer include:

    + Provide engineering support during procurement activities of replacement parts and services

    + Develop technical evaluations and commercial grade item evaluations used to support verification and acceptance of mechanical items during procurement and receipt activities

    + Prepare item equivalency evaluations, subcomponent classification evaluations, and shelf-life determinations of replacement mechanical items

    + Provide testing and acceptance criteria to the Materials Verification Lab and support verification testing of materials to be used in the nuclear power plant

    + Perform engineering analysis, research, and evaluation

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

    2 - 5 years of engineering experience (may include nuclear power plant, procurement, design, quality assurance, engineering, or similar)

     

    ABET accredited mechanical, aerospace, or similar engineering degree, required.

     

    + Ability to apply engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives

    + Basic understanding and application of configuration management

    + Planning, organizational, and project management skills

    + Effective decision-making skills

    + Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)

    + Computer skills and ability to learn and apply software programs

    + Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs. (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)

    + Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills

    + Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

    + Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices

    + Ability to effectively work both independently and within a team environment

    + Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Developmental experience in a professional engineering position

    + Understanding and experience using 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1-1994, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

    + Experience with SharePoint, SAP Hana, MS Office, Cognos, IBM Maximo/PAMS

    + Basic understanding of computer programming languages such as C++, Python, and ABAP and interface experience in .NET, JavaScript, SQL, and/or MDX are a plus

    + Understanding of or experience using measuring and test equipment

    Education Requirements

    + Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

    + Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

    + Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

    + Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

    + Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
