    Postdoctoral Associate/Senior Postdoctoral Associate- Quantum Computing

    Postdoctoral Associate:

    **Required Qualifications:** (as evidenced by an attached resume)

    • PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related discipline in hand by the start of the appointment.

    • Applicant must have demonstrated research experience in Quantum Information Science, Quantum Computing, and/or Quantum Networks.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in quantum network experiments/devices.

    • Experience in writing research proposals.

    • Experience in supervising/guiding PhD and/or MS students.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    The Postdoctoral Associate will join the Principal Investigator Profs. Himanshu Gupta (https://www3.cs.stonybrook.edu/~hgupta/) and CR Ramakrishnan (https://www.cs.stonybrook.edu/people/faculty/crramakrishnan) in the Quantum Computing (https://www.cs.stonybrook.edu/research/area/Quantum-Computing) and Network Center of Stony Brook University's Department of Computer Science. Supported by significant funding, Profs. Himanshu Gupta and CR Ramakrishnan conduct research in the general area of quantum networks, quantum sensor networks, and distributed quantum computing. The center includes other quantum faculty, and conducts a wide range of collaborative quantum research in the areas of quantum computing, quantum algorithms and complexity, quantum cryptography, quantum program verification, quantum machine learning, etc.

     

    • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Quantum Networks and Computing

    • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.

    • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.

    • Assist in writing research proposals.

    • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

    • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

    • Join and/or supervise small research teams comprising Doctoral candidates as well as MS and undergraduate students. Actively participate in several weekly group meetings.

    Senior Postdoctoral Associate:

    • Three years of Research research experience in Quantum Information Science, Quantum Computing, and/or Quantum Networks.

    Special Notes:

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

    Appointment is for 1-2 years. Salary is commensurate with experience.
