    As the Manager of the Airport Building Department (ABD), you will support the Senior Manager and oversee all departmental functions. Your responsibilities will include conducting and/or supervising plan reviews and inspections of airport construction projects to ensure compliance with Washington State Building Codes.

     

    + You will supervise the ABD Building Inspectors/Plans Examiners, Senior Permit Coordinator, and Permit Coordinator, assigning and monitoring staff projects and tasks.

    + You will provide guidance and code interpretation to staff and stakeholders, while also mentoring and training newer team members.

    + You will assist the Senior Manager and administrative staff in developing and managing the ABD budget, approve P-Card requests, and review and approve staff timecard submissions.

    + You will review building, plumbing, and mechanical plans, as well as construction projects, to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

    + You will compile detailed plan review comments for permit applicants, including relevant code citations.

    + You will attend pre-application and pre-construction meetings with stakeholders prior to the start of permitted construction projects.

    + You will serve as the department’s Lead Technology Coordinator, managing Office 365 SharePoint and MS Teams, and providing support to staff as needed.

    + You will lead ABD efforts related to emergency preparedness and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) coordination, including rapid fire and life safety evaluations to assess structural occupancy safety.

    Who you are:

    + **Experienced** – You have four (4) years of experience performing and building inspections and/or plan review, to include, two (2) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.

    + **Desired** – We hope you have an ICC Plans Examiner and/or Building Inspector Certifications, International Code Council Certified Building Official (ICC CBO) Certification, UPC Plumbing Inspector and/or plans Examiner Certification or ICC mechanical inspector and/or plans examiner certification(s).

    + **Adaptable Problem-Solver** – You bring creative ideas, agility, and adaptability to problem-solving endeavors with a keen eye for process improvement and efficiency. You can also work effectively in situations involving uncertainty or lack of information and response flexibly to change.

    + **Technically Skilled** – You possess knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Accela, SharePoint.

    What else you need to know:

    + **Work Schedule** – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

    + **Work Environment** – You will primarily work in an office environment.

    + **Work Environment** – You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.

    + **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

    + **Safety Requirements** – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

    + **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.

    + **Security Requirements** – You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
