    Job Description:

    We are looking to hire anAssistant Superintendent LRT Signals & ET -Riverline!

    Summary:

    + Responsible but not limited to managing departmental day-to-day activities, coordinating inspections, testing and repair of electrical and signal systems.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    The specifications outlined are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in this position. The specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

     

    + Manages activities of staff conducting signal and communication equipment inspections and tests. Directs staff in corrective actions to repair system defects, ensuring all regulatory inspections and tests are conducted and reports are filed in accordance with NJ TRANSIT and FRA regulations.

    + Supervises construction, testing, start-up and operations of River LINE signal, electrical traction, and ventilation systems improvements. Supervises contracted services and provides support staff to assist contractor workforce in capital project work.

    + Trains assigned staff in proper procedures and troubleshooting techniques to maintain signal, electrical traction, and ventilation systems in safe and reliable operating condition.

    + Manages work and vacation schedules and production staffing levels for assigned staff. Performs various personnel related functions including administering corrective disciplinary action.

    + Ensures system reliability by analyzing train delays due to signal and electrical traction systems failure, and coordinates with transportation department and control center to initiate corrective action and eliminate repeat system failures.

    + Provides technical support for new systems improvements and component design, procurement, manufacture, construction, testing and operation.

    This Position Supervises:

    + Foreman Signals I - Light Rail - RL

    + Agreement Staff

    Education, Experience and Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related area or equivalent is desirable and a minimum of (7) or more years of experience in maintenance, design and/or construction of railroad signal systems, including supervisory experience.

    + Background experience in electrical and/or communication systems may be substituted for railroad experience. Light Rail operating and/or project management experience desirable.

    + One year of closely related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    + Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Solid negotiation, customer service, time management and decision-making skills are required.

    + Ability to work in a team environment.

    + Strong skills utilizing PC systems and MS Office (or similar) applications; Dimensions (Timekeeping), VMIS/Trapeze, SCADA, Emergency Ventilation, EPS (discipline system) and Oracle.

    Working Environment:

    + Office environment with field response to the RoW, Stations, Adverse Weather events, Special Events.

    Physical Demands:

    + Primarily office/building environment: sitting, standing, walking. This position also entails periods of activity where walking in the Yard or Right of Way is required. Climbing stairs, stepping over Rail or walking on uneven surfaces will be necessary.

    Other Conditions:

    + Will be required to respond to events/incidents or events as needed on a 24/7 basis.
