Position Purpose:
The position primarily supports the Principal Investigator (PI) and Laboratory Manager with the recruitment, screening, scheduling, consenting, and administration of study procedures for the Brains, Experiences, and Mental Health (BEAM) study at the Ruvvy Resilience Lab. The Research Assistant may also support the lab in community engagement efforts and similar procedures for other research studies.
Essential Functions:
Recruitment (call, email, send flyers, post to social media) and phone screening of potential study participants.
Schedule study visits in coordination with research staff, the Magnetic Resonance Research Facility (MRRF), and participants and their families.
Conduct study visits with youth participants and their caregivers, including interviewing youth and their caregivers, assist with brain scanning, and basic data quality assurance/checking.
Produce scientific research products (e.g., peer-reviewed manuscripts, posters, presentations).
Attend weekly lab meetings.
Attend regular meetings with Principal Investigator (PI) and Lab Manager.
Community engagement activity (tabling at local events, contributions to social media campaigns).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education : Bachelor’s degree.
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.
Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Experience in human subjects/ clinical research lab.
Preferred background administering questionnaires or tests to study participants or clinical patients.
Background with magnetic resonance imaging will define exceptionally qualified candidates.
Ability to speak/read/write a second language is preferred.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Preferred background communicating with research participants or clinical patients.
Ability to communicate via phone, email, and text message.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Experience interacting with families and children.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
