    Teaching Assistant – Achieve Program (7.25 hrs/day) Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District

    Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Achieve Program team. This program provides a structured and supportive setting where students can build academic skills, develop social-emotional growth, and increase independence. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the lead teacher and program staff to create a positive, engaging environment that supports individualized learning and student achievement. This position also includes supporting students on the school bus during dismissal to ensure a safe and successful transition home.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Assist the lead teacher in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

    + Provide direct support to students with varying disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and daily routines.

    + Foster a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes independence.

    + Collaborate with therapists, specialists, and other staff to meet student needs.

    + Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

    + NYS Teaching Assistant Certification (or willingness to obtain).

    + Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a school setting.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.

    + Knowledge of behavioral management strategies is a plus.
