    Summary This position is located at Fort Carson, Colorado. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) (after 15% multi-child discount has been applied) Available to CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours) Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid. Responsibilities Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant in a Child and Youth Services program and maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans. Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs for program participants based on the group and individual children and youth. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provides program options for children with special requirements. Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: All applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate and be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. In addition, candidate must: Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus Army or other military service Foundation Level Training as evidenced by service-issued Certificate of Completion. OR Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus an associate's degree or least 60 semester hours of college credit which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content directly related to the age group to which assigned, for example: Child Development Centers: Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education. School Age: Elementary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Special Education. Youth Services: Youth Development, Secondary Education, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or directly-related behavioral or cultural science (developmental psychology, child psychology/sociology, sociology of the family, parenting. General psychology/sociology coursework is not qualifying). OR Possess one of the following: 1. A bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content as indicated above. 2. Possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the age group of the position to which assigned: Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential. Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
