    Job Summary

    The Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is a student-focused, collaborative, and strategic leader responsible for the development and management of Rensselaer’s fraternity and sorority community. The Director supports an active and academically engaged fraternity and sorority system that contributes meaningfully to campus culture, school spirit, and student success at one of the nation's premier STEM institutions.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Organizational Leadership, or related field

    + 5–7 years of progressively responsible student affairs experience, including;

    + A strong background in fraternity and sorority life

    + Proven experience managing risk, supporting student conduct processes, and navigating crisis response

    + Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive excellence and belonging among a diverse student population

     

    Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience advising culturally based fraternal organizations (e.g., NPHC, MGC)

    + Experience overseeing fraternity/sorority housing operations and physical facility concerns

    + Experience supervising professional staff in a higher education environment

    + Familiarity with outcomes assessment, strategic planning, and data-informed decision making

    + Experience working in a selective or STEM-focused institution with a high-achieving student population.

    + Deep commitment to student success, leadership, and personal growth

    + Strong advising, coaching, and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and credibility with students and stakeholders

    + Flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment

    + Collegial and collaborative, with a strong ability to engage campus and external partners

    + Culturally aware and responsive to diverse identities, needs, and lived experiences

    + Emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure, and confident in high-stakes decision-making

    + Able to balance long-term strategic thinking with day-to-day operational leadership

    + Student-focused orientation with a record of working collaboratively across teams and departments

     

    Shift

     

    Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

     

    Travel

     

    Local travel between campus locations only

     

    Driving

     

    Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use

     

    Starting Salary/Rate

     

    Expected hiring range: $75,000 - $85,000

     

    Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
