Care Initiatives is seeking a Director of Sales Strategy & Business Development to join our team! As the largest single operator of quality nursing homes in Iowa, Care Initiatives has over forty (40) skilled nursing communities, seven (7) hospice offices (and growing!), plus our own internal staffing agency. We are committed to providing exceptional care and support at every stage of the healthcare journey.

As the Director of Sales Strategy & Business Development you will lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic growth initiatives across our hospice and skilled nursing services. This role will play a key part in expanding our footprint in the senior living space by uncovering market opportunities, building strong referral partnerships, and driving sustainable, mission-aligned growth.

What you'll do as the Director of Sales Strategy & Business Development:

Strategic Growth & Partnerships

+ Identify and prioritize new market opportunities for hospice and skilled nursing services.

+ Develop and manage strategic alliances with key referral partners, including hospitals, medical groups, and senior care communities to accelerate patient acquisition and market expansion.

+ Collaborate with internal leaders to build go-to-market strategies for expansion.

+ Negotiate and manage partnership agreements to support patient access and care coordination.

+ Provide leadership with market insights and data-driven recommendations.

Business Development & Community Engagement

+ Lead community outreach strategies to increase referral volume and census growth.

+ Represent Care Initiatives at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.

+ Work closely with Marketing to align messaging with mission, values, and branding.

+ Stay ahead of healthcare policy, trends, and reimbursement changes to inform strategy.

What is takes to become our Director of Sales Strategy & Business Development:

Education & Experience

+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field preferred.

+ 8+ years of experience in strategic business development within senior care, hospice, or skilled nursing.

+ Demonstrated success in market expansion and revenue growth.

+ Strong industry network and experience with facility acquisitions or DeNovo hospice development.

Skills & Abilities

+ Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

+ Strong analytical thinker with experience in market research and strategy.

+ Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

+ Ability to create strategic reports and presentations for senior leadership.

Other Requirements

+ Willingness and ability to travel frequently (75%+).

+ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

+ Reliable personal transportation and current auto insurance coverage.
