    Job Title: Welder and Fabricator

    Job Description

    In this role, you will be responsible for welding steel staircases, railings, steel I beams, columns, footings, and other structural steel forms involved in the construction of a building. You will grind and perform repair welds on finished handrails and utilize hand grinders, polishers, and welding equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for moving and loading products after shipments are completed, working with various weld sizes including 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8. Tack, finish, and fabrication skills are essential.

    Responsibilities

    + Weld steel staircases, railings, I beams, columns, and footings.

    + Grind and perform repair welds on finished handrails.

    + Utilize hand grinders, polishers, and welding equipment.

    + Move and load products post-shipment.

    + Work with various weld sizes: 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8.

    + Support the miscellaneous steel department.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in MIG welding.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

    + Experience with structural steel, tube, and square fabrications.

    + Capability to operate crane, hi-lo, and sky track.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in steel fabrication and fixtures handling.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a fast-paced environment with 1st shift hours from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and 2nd shift from 4:00 pm to 3:00 am, Monday through Friday. Expect to work 55-60 hours weekly from July to October 2025 on projects such as the GR Soccer Stadium, airport, and hospitals. The team is tight-knit, driven, and committed to maintaining high standards. A work-first attitude is essential to fit in and succeed.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
