Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a robust electromechanical skills to support the design, development, and testing of our next-generation surgical toolset. This position is perfect for someone who excels in early-stage product development, relishes problem-solving, and can transform conceptual ideas into functional prototypes and testable assemblies.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop electromechanical components for surgical tools.

+ Translate early-stage product ideas into SolidWorks models and functional prototypes.

+ Design for manufacturability using both plastics and metals.

+ Lead or contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and testing plans.

+ Build and test prototypes, iterating based on performance and feedback.

+ Support the carry-over of existing product elements while integrating new design features.

+ Document design processes, test results, and engineering decisions.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

+ 5+ years of engineering experience.

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks.

+ Experience with electromechanical components preferred; otherwise, medical device experience is necessary.

+ Experience with design and manufacturing using plastics and metals.

+ Leadership experience, which can include supervisory or lead roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Fusion 360.

+ Knowledge of GD&T.

+ Experience in mechanical design and mechanical engineering.

+ Project management skills.

+ Medical device experience is a plus.

+ Experience handling direct reports.

+ Startup experience is a bonus.

Work Environment

This role is primarily focused on research and development but will require exposure to the manufacturing floor. You will be part of a dynamic team in a company during its early stages, contributing to the next generation of products. There is a high potential for extension after six months and eventual conversion to a full-time employee. The position also includes benefits such as six paid holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, Texas

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $63.00/hr.
