What you need to know about this position:
+ The Laboratory Education Coordinator partners with the Laboratory Administrative Director, Laboratory Manager, Department Technical Specialists, the Coordinator of Client Services, the LIS technical specialists, and the Pathologists to assess laboratory personnel learning needs.
+ The Education Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs designed to advance the practice of laboratory science and to develop consistent training for the laboratory’s support staff.
+ Educational programs designed and implemented by the Education Coordinator include, but are not limited to, staff orientation for new employees, staff mentoring for new employees, mentoring of staff that serve as preceptors or mentors within the different workgroups, mentoring of staff needing additional training and/or retraining, as well as department based competencies designed to meet the needs of specific populations.
+ The Education Coordinator works with other department education coordinators to meet interdepartmental education goals.
+ The Education Coordinator also serves as an informal leader to promote positive relationships between the various workgroups within the laboratory and with other hospital departments.
+ The base hourly rate for this position is $30.04. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
+ In this position, you would be scheduled to work 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 20 hours per week, considered part-time.
+ With at least 16 hours per week, this position is benefit eligible.
What is required for this position:
+ Upon hire, you must have:
+ Bachelor's Degree in applicable science field
+ One of the following Certifications: CMT, CMLS, or CMLT
+ Certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) in one of the following required:
+ Medical Technologist Certification (MT)
+ Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification (MLS)
+ Medical Laboratory Technician Certification (MLT)
