    SALARY: $23.66 - $37.00 DESCRIPTION:

     

    + 7.5 hours per day

    + Monday through Friday

    + 10 month position

     

    REQUIREMENTS: Provisional Appointment - Pending Civil Service approval and pending eligibility for competitive appointment

     

    3 years experience as a Pool Manager

     

    CERTIFICATIONS: LGI Certification – Life Guard Instructor WSI Certification – Water Safety Instructor Current certification in CPR and First Aid DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS (POOL DIRECTOR): This is responsible work involving the promotion and planning of an organized comprehensive swimming program. The incumbent is responsible for planning and supervising swim classes, water programs, and other recreation activities. Supervision is exercised over a staff of lifeguards and other recreational assistants. Does related work as required. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (illustrative only)

     

    + Plans and organizes water sports, swimming classes, and other social programs;

    + Has responsible charge of the inspection of swimming pool facilities, particularly those related

    + to sanitation;

    + Oversees the care, maintenance and acquisition of pool equipment and supplies;

    + Initiates and enforces safety regulations;

    + Acts as a sports official when needed;

    + Supervises and assists with the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment;

    + Keeps records and prepares reports dealing with pool activities.

     

    FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the principles of physical education with special reference to the teaching of swimming and lifesaving; good knowledge of modem recreational practices; high degree of skill in swimming and lifesaving; ability to plan and organize social programs; ability to maintain friendly relationships with others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
