KBR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the E-2D test stand operations at NAS North Island in San Diego, CA. This position plays a key role in the calibration, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems that directly support air vehicle mission readiness. The engineer will specialize in areas such as fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and precision dimensional measurement, ensuring test systems operate at peak accuracy and efficiency. This is a unique opportunity to apply advanced mechanical expertise in a highly specialized aerospace environment while collaborating closely with electrical engineers and technical specialists.
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Perform calibration, verification, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems supporting E-2D test stand operations, including flow, pressure, and temperature instrumentation.
+ Apply principles of fluid dynamics (e.g., sonic flow, laminar flow, Coriolis meters, wind tunnels) to evaluate and enhance test performance.
+ Conduct precision dimensional measurements using gage blocks, thread wires, optical flats, and similar metrology tools.
+ Support thermodynamic system testing, including temperature probes, pressure systems, proving rings, load cells, and deadweight testers.
+ Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure coordinated calibration of both electrical and mechanical components.
+ Develop, update, and maintain calibration procedures and records in accordance with applicable standards and quality assurance protocols.
+ Analyze system data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and optimize test performance.
+ Provide technical mentorship and subject matter expertise in mechanical systems and calibration processes.
+ Support process improvement initiatives to reduce turnaround time and enhance test efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
+ Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain.
