    At SUNY Oneonta, we don't just teach Human Development, we live it! Start your next chapter with us as a Lecturer in Human Development and Family Studies beginning Fall 2026. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching a variety of courses in Human Development, Marriage and Family Relationships, and courses in your area of expertise.

     

    The Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) program is housed in the Department of Human Ecology. The HDFS program enrolls approximately 100 students with a total of 625 students and 22 full-time faculty in the Department. Other majors in the Department include Fashion & Textiles, Food Service and Restaurant Administration, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Human Development and Family Studies is an approved program for the Certified Family Life Educator credential through the National Council on Family Relations. The Human Development and Family Studies Program prepares students to work in human services field. Courses are applied in nature to help with career readiness or to pursue graduate studies.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    + Teaching a variety of courses in:

    + Human Development.

    + Marriage and Family Relationships.

    + Courses in the applicant's area of expertise.

    Job Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

    + Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or other closely related field.

    + Experience teaching college courses.

    Preferred:

    + Ph.D. or comparable degree.

    + More than two years of college teaching.

    + Experience teaching face-to-face classes.

    + Areas of expertise to include Substance Use, Gerontology, Program Development, or Early Childhood.

    + Experience in teaching, mentoring, and / or research.

    + Experience working with or serving a diverse and/or multicultural populations.
