Overview
SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (RDTE):
Bowhead seeks a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator in Dahlgren, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Postgres and Oracle databases, as well as applying DISA STIGs to ensure compliance with regulations. The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team and be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
+ Design, implement, and maintain Oracle and Postgres databases.
+ Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and PL/SQL programs on Oracle database and Postgres.
+ Apply DISA STIGs to ensure compliance with regulations.
+ Monitor database performance and ensure availability.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
+ Optimize database performance.
+ Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.
+ Ensure database security and compliance with regulations.
+ Collaborate with developers to design and implement database solutions.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or Bachelors degree and three (3+) or more years of experience in SQL database administration.
+ Design, code, and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, packages, functions, and triggers.
+ Collaborate with application developers to create optimized applications.
+ Three (3) years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
+ Strong understanding of database architecture and data modeling.
+ Experience with performance tuning and database optimization techniques.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
+ Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Design, implement, and maintain Oracle and Postgres databases.
+ Apply DISA STIGs to ensure compliance with regulations.
+ Monitor database performance and ensure availability.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.

+ DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II compliant.
+ Excellent communication skills.
Desired Experience:
+ Knowledge of Git and specifically GitLab
+ Firm grasp of SQL best practices in both PostgreSQL and Oracle.
+ Surface level knowledge of Redis and other NoSQL DBs
Physical Demands:
+ Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds
+ Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
+ Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
