Description:
This is a FT position on night shift.
+ **Position Summary:** The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems throughout the hospital campus during night shift hours. This role ensures optimal performance of HVAC systems to maintain a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors. **Key Responsibilities:**
+ Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, boilers, exhaust fans, and split systems.
+ Inspect, clean, and replace filters, belts, coils, motors, and other components as needed.
+ Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and respond to alerts or anomalies.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues, escalating complex problems to day-shift technicians or supervisors.
+ Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
+ Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., AHCA, OSHA).
+ Respond to emergency calls related to HVAC systems during night hours.
+ Collaborate with other maintenance staff and security personnel to ensure facility readiness.
Working Conditions:
Hospital environment with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures. Night shift schedule with occasional weekend or holiday coverage. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting. Valid HVAC license or EPA Universal Certification required. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night hours. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
