    Position Summary

    The Supplier Recovery Manager (SRM) leads and coordinates corrective actions and recovery plans when suppliers fail to meet quality, delivery, cost, or compliance requirements. The SRM’s focus is containment, root‑cause resolution, supplier capability improvement, cost recovery, and restoring reliable supply while minimizing impact to production, customers and safety (especially critical in braking systems).

     

    Position will directly report to the Division Supply Chain Manager and will interact with all levels of Division management. May supervise supplier recovery personal and outside contract services.

     

    Core activities / typical tasks

     

    + Triage incoming supplier incidents and assign priority/severity.

    + Run cross‑functional recovery meetings and create action owners, timelines, and acceptance criteria.

    + Facilitate supplier site visits and audits; perform capability studies (Cpk).

    + Draft and negotiate SCARs, service level adjustments and contingency sourcing agreements.

    + Prepare executive summaries for senior leadership, including cost and production impact.

    + Must be willing to travel up to 75%

    Primary responsibilities

    + Lead supplier recovery programs

    + Triage supplier incidents (delivery failure, quality escapes, lead‑time slips, nonconformances), prioritize by business impact and safety risk.

    + Coordinate immediate containment actions with supplier, QA, production and logistics (replacement shipments, quarantines, rework).

    + Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective action

    + Facilitate investigations (5‑Why, Fishbone, FMEA) with supplier and internal stakeholders.

    + Develop, negotiate and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and CAPAs; verify effectiveness and prevent recurrence.

    + Expedite supply & minimize production disruption

    + Create and manage recovery plans (expedites, alternate suppliers, temporary buys, rerouting) to restore supply as quickly as possible.

    + Work with Procurement and Logistics to secure capacity and prioritized shipments.

    + Coordinate supplier performance improvement

    + Implement supplier improvement plans, capability development, training, tooling/gauging support and onsite engineering assistance.

    + Escalate to sourcing/leadership for non‑performing or at‑risk suppliers and pursue replacement strategies if needed.

    + Contractual recovery & cost management

    + Capture and pursue cost recovery (credit, debit notes, price adjustments, make‑good costs) with Finance and Legal.

    + Track and report recovery realized versus target (credits, cost avoidance, expedited freight recovery).

    + Manage communications & governance

    + Operate escalation cadence (daily standups during recovery, weekly status reviews, executive updates).

    + Represent supplier recovery in S&OP, QBRs, and cross‑functional governance forums.

    + Ensure traceability & compliance

    + Maintain documentation for FAI/PPAP updates, lot/serial traceability, material certifications and regulatory records.

    + Ensure supplier actions comply with safety, regulatory and customer requirements.

    + Monitor metrics & continuous improvement

    + Track closure times, recurrence rates, supplier PPM, on‑time delivery after recovery, and apply lessons learned across supply base.

    + Lead root‑cause driven continuous improvement projects with suppliers.

    + Systems & process ownership

    + Use SAP to record supplier nonconformances, returns, material dispositions, GR/IR impacts and PO changes.

    + Maintain recovery trackers, dashboards and run reports for performance and executive review.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management, Business, Engineering or other related field; technical engineering degree preferred. Advanced degree such as MBA preferred

    • Experience working in or with Operations, Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing disciplines a plus

    • Four or more years of increasing leadership responsibility within manufacturing operations requiring advanced project planning and team organizational skills

    • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives

    • Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities

    • Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals

    • Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change

    • Thorough understanding of production technology, and/or specialty support areas including broad knowledge of business and regulatory environments and trends
