    Job Title: Controls Engineer - 2nd ShiftJob Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated 2nd shift Controls Engineer to join our growing team. The role primarily involves programming, troubleshooting, and debugging assembly equipment. You will collaborate closely with suppliers and the manufacturing team to ensure equipment is properly programmed and operational.

    Responsibilities

    + Program, troubleshoot, and debug assembly equipment, focusing on modifications rather than programming from scratch.

    + Modify programs by adding or removing steps as needed.

    + Work with assembly machines, sonic welders, clip machines, and RAP machines.

    + Assist in the installation of new machines and collaborate with assembly equipment suppliers.

    + Support the manufacturing team with computer software and program needs.

    + Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and secondary tooling/equipment-related issues.

    + Track and ensure successful completion and launch of secondary tooling.

    + Review open issues list at the start of each shift to determine machine status and needed work.

    + Document completed work in an Excel spreadsheet to track real-time issue resolution.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years of experience working as a Controls Engineer/PLC Programmer.

    + Proficiency in programming, start-up, troubleshooting, and debugging in RS Logix 500 or RS Logix 5000.

    + Experience with HMI systems.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

    + Experience with ABB or FANUC robots.

    + Knowledge or experience with vision systems such as Cognex or Keyence.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in a plant environment that can be hot during summer due to plastic injection mold machinery. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule from approximately 3-4 PM to 11 PM or 12 AM, totaling 40-50 hours a week. The work culture emphasizes teamwork and communication. The dress code is business casual.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Michigan.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
