Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead and supervise mechanical design processes, project management, and mechanical/piping design. The role involves leading design processes, supervising personnel, managing projects, and providing expertise in mechanical and piping design, with a focus on brownfield projects in the papermill industry.

Responsibilities

+ Participate in and review work processes for mechanical design work.

+ Establish or modify existing design and checking standards, and train employees in procedures.

+ Establish and maintain metrics to ensure compliance with procedures.

+ Promote the use of 'standard details' to expedite the design of routine items.

+ Implement 3D design technology and integrate it into the base approach for new designs.

+ Prioritize and distribute design work, maximizing designers' skills and fostering skill development.

+ Ensure compliance with design procedures by supervising design personnel, promoting and encouraging adherence.

+ Monitor design time versus project budgets and work towards meeting or exceeding these metrics.

+ Gather feedback from project engineers and clients, using this information to enhance or reward performance.

+ Develop a work plan and oversee drawings as necessary, performing field work to inspect and verify plant conditions.

+ Design structures and layout new equipment for efficient space and resource utilization.

+ Coordinate with other disciplines to minimize the total installed cost of projects.

+ Verify detailed design compliance with design intent and standards.

+ Establish and maintain positive client relationships.

+ Lead scope development efforts and communicate needs to designers or other engineers.

+ Obtain quotes for engineering, equipment, materials, and services.

+ Develop bid packages, lead bid meetings, and evaluate bids.

+ Manage and issue project documents for client storage and close out projects in the EGS file system.

+ Design mechanical/piping work, develop feasible solutions, and perform stress analysis.

+ Provide design guidance and review others' work, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.

+ Stamp drawings in AL, GA, MS, and FL.

Work Environment

The position is based in an engineering office with some daily travel to project sites throughout the Southeastern United States.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Dothan, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
