Environmental Lab Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Lab Analyst with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science field, such as Biology. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory setting, performing chemical analyses, and handling various environmental samples. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations through accurate testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

+ Perform chemical analysis of environmental samples, including process water samples, coal, fuel oil, and compliance water samples.

+ Maintain accurate records, permits, and documentation required for environmental compliance and reporting.

+ Ensure compliance with quality control requirements for analytical methods.

+ Utilize specialized equipment and techniques to analyze samples.

+ Support and adhere to EPA methodology supporting NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, and EPA Solid Waste - 846 methods.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in laboratory testing equipment and safe lab practices.

+ Experience with chemical nomenclature, instrumentation, and inorganic analytical methods.

+ Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges.

+ Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in environmental documentation.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.

+ Strong analytical thinking to assess environmental data and make informed recommendations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Several years of experience performing laboratory analysis.

+ Experience with EPA methods or environmental analysis is a plus.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Sciences.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position located in a laboratory environment. The role requires receiving and processing samples in the basement from shipping companies. The position does not involve wearing a white coat and offers no hybrid work options.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
