Job Title: Masonry Worker

Job Description

A commercial mason constructs and repairs structures made of brick, stone, concrete, and other materials for commercial buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, and retail centers.

Responsibilities

+ Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine project specifications.

+ Measure and calculate materials needed for construction tasks.

+ Prepare surfaces and lay out materials like bricks, blocks, and stones according to design plans.

+ Mix mortar and grout, and apply them to secure building walls, floors, partitions, and facades using masonry techniques.

+ Ensure structural integrity and alignment using levels, plumb bobs, and other tools.

+ Install reinforcements and anchors as required by project specifications.

+ Repair and restore existing masonry structures, including waterproofing and patching damaged areas.

+ Maintain safety standards and collaborate with other construction professionals on-site.

Work Environment

This role involves outdoor work, requiring the ability to work in all weather conditions. The team size varies depending on the project, but currently, the concrete crew consists of about 5-8 individuals. Work hours can range from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, typically from Monday to Friday, depending on project requirements. Required personal protective equipment includes leather boots above the ankle, safety glasses, a hard hat, and high-visibility clothing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beloit, Wisconsin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
