Job Title: Sub Arc Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Sub Arc Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate submerged arc welding machines to weld metal components according to precise specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the high-quality production in our fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
+ Operate submerged arc welding (SAW) machines to weld metal components according to specifications.
+ Set up and calibrate welding equipment, including wire feed speed, voltage, and travel speed.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
+ Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, positioning, and securing components.
+ Monitor weld quality and make adjustments to machine settings as needed.
+ Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment.
+ Inspect finished welds for defects using visual and mechanical inspection tools.
+ Maintain accurate records of work performed, including weld logs and production reports.
+ Collaborate with fabricators, fitters, and quality control personnel to ensure product integrity.
+ Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and safe handling of welding materials.
+ Assist with material handling, including loading/unloading components and moving finished parts.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives in welding processes and shop efficiency.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience operating submerged arc welding equipment in a fabrication environment.
+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding welding symbols.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
+ Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
+ Basic math and measurement skills.
+ Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with sub arc welding techniques.
+ Capability to read and interpret complex blueprints.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
