    Description

    Position Summary:The Mechanical Apprentice will assist licensed tradesman with the installation or maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems and associated processes.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    + Regular attendance at assigned location that may include office or other project sites

    + Work with materials that include caste iron, PVC, polypropylene, copper (solder and pro-press), stainless steel, carbon steel

    + Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines

    + Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes or fixtures in structures

    + Assemble pipe sections, tubing or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolds or soldering equipment

    + Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools

    + Test pipes of fixtures for leaks using various methods

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills & Characteristics:

    + Ability to work independently or as part of a team

    + Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers

    + Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality

    + Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner

    + At times may perform clerical/administrative duties

    + Participate in site housekeeping

    + Perform additional duties as direct by SOP's and employee handbook

    Educational & Experience Requirements:

    + High School Diploma or relevant work experience

    + Enrolled in Trade school and/or apprenticeship program

    + OSHA 10 certification

    + Understanding and development of daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
