    Title and Summary

     

    Senior Data Engineer

     

    The Security Solutions Data Science team is responsible for creating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models backing its flagship product. The models generated are production ready and created to back specific products in Mastercard’s authentication and authorization networks. The Data Science team is also responsible for developing automated processes for creating models covering all modeling steps, from data extraction up to delivery. In addition, the processes must be designed to scale, to be repeatable, resilient, and industrialized.

     

    Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution.

     

    You will join a dynamic and innovative team working at petabyte scale with cutting-edge big data platforms and technologies. Our mission is to streamline and automate the repetitive aspects of data science to accelerate innovation in AI/ML-driven fraud detection. We specialize in building high-quality, scalable ETL pipelines, developing robust feature engineering workflows, and creating shared tools that empower data scientists across the organization. Additionally, we play a key role in deploying model features and ensuring seamless integration into production environments.

     

    What will you do?

     

    • Work with cutting edge big data platforms and technologies at petabyte scale

    • Be responsible for writing performant, clean, and testable code

    • Develop and maintain data pipelines to automate tasks within data science and data engineering.

    • Work in cross-functional teams and across different business units to solve complex problems.

    • Assist in deploying and validating production artifacts

    • Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, automate tasks, and build reusable components for multiple use cases and teams.

    • Create data assets that are well-modeled, thoroughly documented, and easy to understand and maintain.

    • Develop function requirements in complex environments

    All About You:

    • Hands-on knowledge of any big data engine (preferably Spark)

    • Proven experience in Python and SQL

    • Proven ability to write clean code that is readable, maintainable and follows best practices and coding standards

    • Strong experience with CI\CD (Git, Jenkins, etc)

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Highly skilled problem solver

    • Exhibits a high degree of initiative

    • Strong curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and grow

    • Undergraduate degree in CS, or a STEM related field.

    Nice to have:

    • Experience with PySpark, Airflow, Databricks, Hadoop

    • Experience in with data engineering on petabyte scale data

    • Passion of Machine Learning

    • Experience optimizing code using GPUs

    • Comfortable with pioneering new technology

    In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.

     

    Pay Ranges

     

    O'Fallon, Missouri: $115,000 - $184,000 USD
