    Overview

     

    This position is responsible for Major Capital Project construction's field oversight and corresponding contractor workforce safety, quality, and productivity program management that supports Project Engineering (PE), as well as generation when needed across LG&E-KU, to drive changes among contractors and company.

    Responsibilities

    •Evaluates and directs the implementation of contractor safety and quality performance for PE and as identified by need, may do the same occasionally for generation facilities.

    •When performance issues are identified, responsible for investigating root cause, and collaborating within company and with the contractor to execute measurable corrective actions to ensure sustainable improvement which models expectation for all participants and stakeholders.

    •Models and coaches contractor interactions, specifically focused on front line leaders and individuals.

    •Reinforces or establishes clear roles and responsibilities for company oversight of contractors and recommends changes in organizational design and expectation as required.

    •Monitors contractor work for compliance with contract schedule, specifications/drawings, and quality.

    •Travel to all Project Engineering work locations across the service territory.

    •Manages, mentors and motivate direct report Construction Coordinators, fostering a team environment with consistency across multiple construction sites.

    •Ensures that each contractor has detailed and effective safety and quality plans.

    •Ensures that contract language provides clarity around contractor’s performance expectations and how contractors will be held accountable to those expectations.

    •Develops and leads executive check-in forums with contractors that drive performance-based accountability from contractor leadership.

    •Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree

     

    in an applicable, technical field

    Required Experience

    + 12+ years of management experience in utility industry

    + 12+ years of related production operations and/or maintenance, or industrial construction

    Preferred Quaificiations

    •Strong leadership, decision making, and consensus-building skills

    •Creative analytical and problem-solving skills; skilled at influencing team and individual performance

    •Ability to lead, accelerate and implement long term, sustainable improvements

    •Ability to succeed given ambiguity, turning concepts into action

    •Ability to prioritize and allocate associated resources in line with business objectives

    •Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical and QA/QC experience

    •Advanced proficiency in OSHA and site safety standards

    •Advanced knowledge of equipment erection and installation standards and methods

    •Proficient in quality standards related to materials and equipment

    •Advanced knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance practices and procedures

    •Advanced skills in construction drawing and specification interpretation

    •Advanced skills in project activity sequencing

    •Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

    •Ability to effectively make recommendations and presentations to senior leadership

    Remote Work

    The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
