Job Summary: Plans, organizes and directs pharmacy activities. Trains department employees. Prepares departmental reports and budgets.
Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: State of Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy license.
Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Reviews all physician's medication orders and accurately enters all pertinent drug-related information into the patient's medication profiles, or checks/verifies the order entries of the technician. Performs patient medication profile reviews to develop drug utilization evaluations, adverse drug reactions, quality assurance, neuroleptic monitoring, infection control, and food-drug interactions; and reports to Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee or other designated committees. Performs audits/reports of automated dispensing cabinets to assess accountability of medications removed from the cabinets; and reports discrepancies to nursing supervisor and other hospital managers. Performs necessary liaison activities between the pharmacy department and administration, medical staff, nursing staff, and other hospital departments. Maintains inventory control by cost-effective purchasing from suppliers, reviewing formulary for deletions of slow or non-moving stock, and by following up on discrepancies that arise from the controlled substance and floor stock records. Manages the operations of the pharmacy, the activities of the pharmacy technician, training of new pharmacists and technicians, and assists in the preparation of their performance evaluations. Provides appropriate drug-related information to physicians and nurses to clarify medication orders, answer drug information questions, and support the clinical goals of patient care.

Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
