We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as an **Automation Engineer** **in Morton, IL.**

     

    Our **Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD)** is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.

    Job Summary:

    As an **Automation Engineer,** you will research, develop, implement automation solutions, concepts and procedures for worldwide parts distribution facilities. This role will focus primarily on autonomous vehicles, while also supporting storage automation and robotics.

     

    **Additional Info** :

    + This position requires the candidate to **work a 5 day-a-week schedule in the Morton, IL office.**

    + **Travel:** 25-50% (primarily domestic)

    What You Will Do:

    + Develop automated processes and solutions to improve warehouse efficiency and ergonomics.

    + Work with existing and new automation Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to engineer solutions.

    + Support existing automation as well as new technology and deployments.

    + Coordinate resources and manage projects with operations, purchasing, engineering, IT, and vendor team members.

    + Oversee project progress and costs; communicate status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; address and resolve problems.

    What You Have (Required Skills):

    + **Business Acumen** : Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

    + **Effective Communications** : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    + **Problem Solving** : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

    + **Data Gathering and Reporting** : Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.

    What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial technology

    + Experience with autonomous vehicles, automated storage solutions, or robotics

    + Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

    + **Data Visualization** : Knowledge of principles, techniques and processes of data visualization; ability to create high quality figures effectively for various business scenarios and storytelling.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $95,640.00 - $143,520.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
