**The Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division of Mississippi currently has an opening for a** **_Production Apprentice Technician_** **located in Corinth, Mississippi.** The Production Apprentice will be working in a variety of roles from disassembly, to reclaim, machining and assembly. The apprentice may also be exposed to engine test cells and some repair functions. This person will operate a variety of hand tools, machining centers and testing equipment to disassemble and remanufacture engines, cylinder heads and components.
Job responsibilities will Include but are not limited to:
+ The Production Apprentice will use proper disassembly techniques and tools to safely and efficiently disassembly while maintaining integrity of components for future use. They will learn upstream and downstream processes for core acceptance criteria (reusability guidelines, salvage decisions and functional business knowledge to understand impact of decisions made).
+ The apprentice will spend time operating a variety of manual machines and repair a variety of salvage issues (remove broken bolts, drill and tap holes, install inserts, etc). Apprentice will learn and operate multiple processes through reclaim, salvage, washer operations, etc. They may interact with and operate overhead cranes and other lifting devices to move various parts.
+ The apprentice will rotate to assembly which is a fast-paced environment prepping and assembling various engines, cylinder heads or components. In this rotation, the apprentice will utilize blueprints and adhere to assembly practices requiring torque. Then the apprentice may spend time in engine test cell testing heavy duty Remanufactured engines and make minor adjustments for engines to pass. Apprentice will be actively engaged to ensure a world-class safety, 5S and contamination control environment requiring great attention to detail and self-motivation. The apprentice will have the opportunity to work across other areas of operations as part of a defined training program.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or participating in NEMCC TIGER Apprenticeship Program. Individuals currently enrolled or studying in the following Associate Degree Programs: Diesel Power Technology or Precision Machining or other related discipline.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Ability to read and understand assembly blueprints
Ability to read and follow standard work or work instructions
Experience using electric or pneumatic tools and torque wrenches
Knowledge of standard assembly tools
Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledgeable of engines, cylinders and other engine components
Experience using a powered crane or hoist system
Previous disassembly or assembly of engines or component experience
Experience using diagnostic equipment
Prior experience machining parts, using salvage tools such as tap guns, manual drills or torch for remove of bolts and plugs; experience installing inserts to repair damaged thread holes
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. (Up to 12 hours per shift)
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to push, pull or lift up to 20lbs multiple times per shift.
Must be able to wear proper PPE.
Additional Information:
This position is an apprenticeship with the possibility of becoming full-time depending on completion of the apprenticeship program, job performance and applicable/available job openings. This position will have a minimum 15 hour and maximum 32 hour scheduled work week. Benefits not offered with this position.
Work shift; 3rd (10PM - 6AM) Sunday - Thursday

Summary Pay Range:
$19.20 - $24.90
