    As an Outpatient Physical Therapist, you will provide occupational therapy services to children aged 0-18 with diverse needs, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorder and traumatic brain injury. You will assess each child, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, evaluate progress and provide guidance to families, collaborating closely with other professionals to ensure coordinated care. Using a variety of modalities such as toys, games, assistive devices, sensory integration techniques and neurodevelopmental approaches, you will help children achieve their highest level of independence and participation in daily activities, including self-care, play, schoolwork and social interactions.

     

    A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with weekend availability.

     

    _This role_** **_may_** **_include duties at the St. Lucie West location._

     

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.

    + Interpret plans and supervise patient treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of the patient.

    + Review and evaluate the patient's response or lack thereof to treatment.

    + Make recommendations to the physician relative to the need to continue or discontinue physical therapy treatment.

    + Provide appropriate documentation of each patient's visit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

    + Be responsible for the maintenance and care of all equipment and apparatus.

    + Be responsible for the economical use of supplies, linens and utilities.

    + Provide appropriate billing for each patient visit in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

    + Assist in on-the-job training of all ancillary personnel.

    + Conduct initial assessments to identify developmental delays or challenges.

    + Utilize standardized tools and clinical observation to inform individualized treatment plans.

    + Collaborate with families to set meaningful, functional goals and involve them during sessions to encourage carryover at home.

    + Address fine motor skills, including handwriting, buttoning, and utensil use.

    + Support sensory integration and help children manage sensory sensitivities through play.

    + Promote social-emotional development and self-regulation.

    + Implement play-based, engaging activities tailored to each child's needs.

    + Collaborate with PTs, SLPs, educators, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure holistic care.

    + Track patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed.

    + Attend in-services, workshops, and training sessions to stay current with best practices.

    + Mentor or receive supervision from colleagues in multidisciplinary settings.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelor's Degree or certificate

    + Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association or a related international degree

    + Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)

    + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

    + Internship experience

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Knowledge of Rehabilitation Techniques

    + Outpatient Pediatric experience
