What’s the job?
The EHS Supervisor demonstrates core skills, which includes understanding and being a leader of the company safety policies in adherence of the principal values VMVO (Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives). The EHS Supervisor is a key resource to the facility with a focus on employee safety. This person reports directly to the EHS Manager and has the primary responsibility of fostering all health and safety improvement efforts at the CertainTeed, Ennis, TX facility.
This function utilizes and builds on the existing procedures and their acquired knowledge to provide EHS technical support to the Plant through coordination of EHS activities and programs. This role supports the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the environmental, health, and safety systems for the plant. As the EHS Supervisor, you will work collaboratively with Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams. This position may be asked to also collaborate with other site EHS Supervisors or Coordinators within the network.
These duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be inclusive and may change depending on unforeseen circumstances or are assigned by supervision for the success of the operation. The position will be reporting to the EHS Manager.
+ Complete daily EHS assignments that are assigned by the EHS Manager
+ Assign tasks and oversee the development of EHS Technicians
+ Monitor employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure compliance with all site safety policies
+ Audit job safety analysis, risk assessments, and work permits on a routine basis and help to create these as needed
+ Support safety meetings with the production teams
+ Assist the EHS Manager to help lead and manage the Safety Committee
+ Participate in the Production Meeting held with the Site Leadership Team and Site Supervision
+ Help to identify and track TF events. Assist the EHS Manager in the mitigation plans for any action items that develop from the TF events
+ Use internal tracking systems to report leading and lagging safety indicators
+ Assist with data management of information captured in the internal tracking systems
+ Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and governmental guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to health, safety, and environmental issues.
Required Qualifications
+ Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field
+ Experience: 3-7 years’ previous experience within the general industry health & safety field
+ Must have knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance requirements with continuing education or professional certificates
+ Must have a knowledge of Lean Thinking, 5-S and Six Sigma. Yellow or Green Belt training completed, or capability of completing within 1 year of hire
+ Requires advanced computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other operating systems.
