Follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine technical and clerical support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. Tasks include, but are not limited to, preparation and distribution of unit dose medications, sterile & non-sterile preparation, and stock orders. Responsible for the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies and medications in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates scheduling and training for Pharmacy Technicians and Students in all distributive and specialty areas of responsibility including, but not limited to, Operating Room Areas, Oncology, Sterile Products, TPN, repackaging, Medication Reconciliation, and Neonatology. (essential)
2. Maintains USP <797> QA measures including but not restricted to; media fill testing, cleaning logs and fingertip testing in Sterile Product areas. (essential)
3. Maintains Quality Assurance & operating condition of Automated Dispensing Cabinets. Continual implementation of workflow processes and efficiencies in all areas of Central Pharmacy Operations. (essential)
4. Reconciles controlled substance records & supports all nursing/anesthesia and procedural areas while maintaining all automated dispensing cabinets (essential)
5. Obtains & maintains quality assurance records & documentation for medication safety initiatives in compliance with all regulation & standards. Records include: (1) Expiration date logs, (2) Training documentation, and (3) Compounding log sheets. (essential)
6. Participates in the development and maintains all Policies & Procedures (P&P), Standard Operation Procedure (SOP), and Record Retention in designated areas. (essential)
7. Works closely with pharmacy technician III (trainers) to develop and maintain training materials and manuals. (essential)
8. Meets on a regular basis in collaboration with the Pharmacy Technician Manager/Supervisor to continuously develop & maintain operational goals/standards. (essential)
9. Participate in the weekly technician on-call rotation. (essential)
Required Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. License Mass Registered Pharmacy Tech required., and Certificate 1 Pharm Tech Cert Board required., or Certificate 2 EXCPT required.
3. 3-5 years related work experience required.
4. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
