    Job Title: Machine Operator

    Job Description

    As a Machine Operator in our pre-production department, you will play a crucial role in preparing parts for assembly. Your primary responsibility is to operate various machines, including coating machines, polishing stations, poly lining machines, and Teflon lining machines, ensuring that raw metal materials are processed to the correct specifications for the welding team. This position requires a keen attention to detail, the ability to work at a fast pace, and proficiency in documenting and recording results for team meetings.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate machines and equipment in accordance with production standards.

    + Perform visual inspections and functional testing to ensure quality.

    + Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and production schedules.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve basic to intermediate machine or process issues.

    + Maintain accurate records of production and quality results using SAP and other systems.

    + Promote safety and follow Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) processes.

    + Support continuous improvement by identifying and reporting quality or process issues.

    Essential Skills

    + Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift.

    + High attention to detail with a focus on quality and producing quality parts.

    + Steel-toed or composite shoes.

    + Ability to read, write, and understand English.

    + Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and units of measurement.

    + Ability to lift 50lbs occasionally (most items are moved by overhead hoist).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Manufacturing experience preferred.

    + Experience using hand and power tools.

    + Ability to read blueprints preferred.

    + Quality control or quality inspection experience.

    + Machine operation experience required for Tier 2 or above.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment includes a temperature-controlled facility where safety is paramount, requiring steel toes, safety glasses, and gloves. The shifts include 1st Shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 2nd Shift from 3:45 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with a $1 differential for the latter. Training for the 2nd shift may occur on the 1st shift or split shift for 6 weeks or longer. Occasionally, the person is mandated on weekends if needed, with prior notice.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood, Indiana.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $23.50/hr.
