Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Lead the design of power distribution systems (low and medium voltage) for a variety of facility types, including medical, utility, industrial, and commercial. Perform electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, and coordination. Prepare detailed engineering documents, equipment specifications, and data sheets aligned with project scope and electrical engineering principles. Oversee sizing and selection of electrical equipment. Provide construction observation, inspection, and field support during startup and commissioning. Review shop drawings, submittals, and interface with suppliers, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams. Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement. Approve final electrical selections and drawing submittals. Mentor junior staff and contribute to cross-functional technical support.
Responsibilities
+ Design power distribution systems (low and medium voltage) for medical, utility, industrial, and commercial facilities.
+ Conduct electrical studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, and coordination.
+ Prepare engineering documents, equipment specifications, and data sheets in accordance with project scope and electrical engineering principles.
+ Oversee the sizing and selection of electrical equipment.
+ Provide construction observation, inspection, and field support during startup and commissioning phases.
+ Review shop drawings and submittals, and collaborate with suppliers, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams.
+ Engage in business development through proposal writing and client interaction.
+ Approve final electrical selections and drawing submittals.
+ Mentor junior staff and provide cross-functional technical support.
Essential Skills
+ Electrical engineering expertise with 8–10 years of experience.
+ Proficiency in electrical power system design.
+ Strong in designing systems for utility and infrastructure projects.
+ Extensive experience with Revit for building and site electrical systems.
+ In-depth knowledge of relevant codes: NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code.
+ Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Minnesota.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Licensure in additional states is a plus.
+ Proficiency in electrical design software such as SKM.
+ Experience in arc flash analysis.
Work Environment
The role involves a two-round interview process, with one virtual interview and the second round either in-office or a lunch meeting near the office. The position may require occasional field visits for construction observation and inspection. A collaborative work environment with opportunities for mentoring and cross-disciplinary collaboration is offered.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
