    Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist

    Job Description

    The Medical Lab Scientist will work in the Chemistry Department, undertaking testing of assigned specimens. The scientist will follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. The role requires maintaining records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens, analyzing specimens using approved testing procedures, and reviewing and releasing test results.

    Responsibilities

    + Test assigned specimens using both manual and automated techniques.

    + Perform sample extraction using manual pipetting, Tecan, and automated technology.

    + Conduct manual data review of calibrations, QC, and chromatography.

    + Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records.

    + Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

    + Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review test results before release.

    + Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.

    + Follow laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.

    + Identify and correct problems that may affect test performance or reporting, or notify the senior technologist or supervisor.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in Chemistry and Clinical Laboratory procedures.

    + Experience with CLIA regulations.

    + Proficiency in manual pipetting techniques.

    + Knowledge of gas chromatography and liquid chromatography.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Degree in Chemistry

    + 1 year of clinical lab experience is highly preferred

    + Experience with HPLC, GCMS, LCMS is beneficial.

    + Experience in research, pharmaceuticals, or toxicology is a plus.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in a busy clinical lab environment with increasing demands. Multiple shifts available with shift premiums for evening, nights, and weekends.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Cleveland, Ohio.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $70720.00/yr.
