    Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is hiring a Gunsmith II (Lead) contract for a 12-month (potentially longer) contract.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, with a proven track record in managing teams, enhancing equipment reliability, and driving operational excellence. You will lead diverse teams that include technical and non-technical staff, key support personnel, and operations personnel to achieve these goals.

    Responsibilities

    + This position is responsible for field level and limited sustainment level maintenance of the 542nd Maintenance Company, to include, but not limited to scheduling:

    + M4A1 5.56mm carbine, M2A1 0.50 cal, Machine gun, MK19 40MM machine gun, M240B 7.72MM machine gun, M17 MHS, weapon mounts, and select accessories.

    + Additional responsibilities include ensuring that your team completes all documentation, maintain their workstations, maintain serviceable tools, maintain proper key control, etc.

    + Lead and manage all aspects of Safety, Quality, and Efficiency, of the assigned workload.

    + Manage relationships with supporting Units to foster a positive work environment and resolve conflicts professionally.

    + Lead daily maintenance meetings to ensure your team is ready and understands and are prepared to execute the daily plan (maintenance schedule) for the day.

    + Develop and prioritize maintenance calendars to ensure your team can support all units assigned under the 542 ND

    + Process, track work orders and parts and parts status to identify work orders that can be scheduled and completed. Provides information related to progress and completion of work.

    + Performs duties in accordance with GCSS-Army operating instructions. Changing status of workorders. etc.

    + Compile and maintain Workload Status Reports, Maintenance Request Registers and Equipment Density reports.

    + In addition to performing all functions of a Level I and Level II Gunsmith, the Gunsmith Level II (Lead) position typically requires attendance to a factory Armorer's course with a focus on small arms.

    + The Lead must possess excellent knowledge of gunsmithing tools and procedures and possess moderate knowledge of firearms operating principles and ballistics.

    + The Gunsmith II Lead has a thorough understanding of firearm operation principles, has a moderate knowledge of internal/external ballistic theories. You will bring extensive technical expertise in both processes and equipment.

    Qualifications

    + Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident with oral and written fluency in the English language.

    + Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license.

    + Highschool diploma or GED equivalent

    + Must undergo pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

    + Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card within first 90 calendar days of employment.

    + Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and finding solutions.

    + Working knowledge (proficient) of Microsoft Office 365(Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

    + Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    + Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift, push, pull, a minimum of 40 pounds, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.

    + Experience with GCSS-Army

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Ideal candidate will have completed prerequisite training for Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91F2O/3O – Small Arms/Artillery Repair

    + Attendance at a formal one-to-two-year accredited in-house gun-smithing course or 2-3 years of Gun Smith II experience.

    + Knowledge of U.S. Army procedures and logistics information system

    + Be thoroughly familiar with the US Technical manuals (TMs)
