AGL is seeking an Assistant Executive Housekeeper (Day Shift) to provide executive housekeeping and environmental services to the NIH’s premier academic research hospital pioneering medical innovations while delivering exceptional patient care. Our complex environment demands rigorous infection control standards to protect cutting-edge research, immunocompromised patients, and dedicated staff.
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Director in leading housekeeping and environmental services (EVS) operations across clinical, research, and public spaces. This role ensures consistent execution of cleaning protocols, regulatory compliance, and staff development to maintain a sanitary, safe environment supporting patient care and research integrity.
Responsibilities
+ **Operational Leadership:**
+ Oversee daily EVS operations for assigned zones (research labs, clinical units, ORs).
+ Implement specialized protocols for BSL labs, isolation units, and research areas.
+ Manage shift supervisors and 100+ FTEs across 24/7 schedules.
+ Coordinate with research principal investigators on lab-specific requirements.
+ **Compliance & Quality Assurance:**
+ Conduct daily ATP testing and visual audits.
+ Maintain regulatory documentation for Joint Commission, CDC, and OSHA.
+ Implement corrective actions for audit findings.
+ Ensure compliance with research safety standards (NIH, BSL protocols).
+ **Infection Prevention:**
+ Execute outbreak response and terminal cleaning procedures.
+ Monitor chemical dilution systems and PPE compliance.
+ Manage biological/chemical waste streams.
+ Implement UV disinfection protocols.
+ **Team Development:**
+ Train staff on research lab cleaning and equipment handling.
+ Conduct performance evaluations and skills assessments.
+ Develop frontline leadership training programs.
+ Foster culture of safety and continuous improvement.
+ **Resource Management:**
+ Manage $500K+ inventory portfolio.
+ Optimize equipment utilization and maintenance.
+ Support budget development and variance tracking.
+ Oversee equipment calibration and validation.
+ **Stakeholder Collaboration:**
+ Serve as EVS liaison for research PIs and clinical units.
+ Address real-time service issues and patient experience concerns.
+ Participate in Environment of Care committees.
+ Coordinate with Infection Prevention department.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Environmental Science, Healthcare Administration or related field.
+ Hospital EVS Leadership: 5+ years in acute care setting.
+ Research Environment: 2+ years in teaching/research hospital.
+ Specialized Protocol: Experience with BSL lab decontamination.
+ Staff Management: 3+ years supervising 30+ FTEs.
+ Regulatory Knowledge: Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC standards.
+ Certifications:
+ CHESP (or obtain within 18 months).
Desired Qualifications:
+ Master's degree or CHESP certification.
+ Infection Control Training Certificate.
+ OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Certification.
