We are looking for Ice Rink Assistant Managers to support the John W. Gallivan Utah Center.
About the Position:
Salt Lake City is looking for Ice Rink Assistant Managers to support Gallivan Center Ice Rink operations. This position will monitor the ice rink areas, adjacent spaces, including Gallivan Hall and supervise staff. Candidate will have one (1) year of experience in effective supervision of personnel, facilities, and equipment. Ideal candidate will also have point of sales and cash handling experience, and transaction and end of shift reporting experience.

The John W. Gallivan Utah Center, located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, is a premier, year-round, urban destination. Featuring a lush grass amphitheater, public gathering spaces, a banquet and meeting center, an ice rink, and captivating art installations, the Gallivan Center serves as a vibrant hub for concerts, exhibits, workshops, public gatherings, festivals, and holiday celebrations. For over three decades, it has provided diverse recreational, educational, artistic, and entertainment experiences for all ages.

Work Schedule:
This position will require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts and will work 10-30 hours per week beginning in early November through early March. Typical shifts are Monday - Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 12:45 a.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Applicants must be flexible and available to work all assigned shifts from start to finish, including weekends, evenings and holidays. All staff are required to work at least 2 holiday shifts: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Food handlers permit and CPR certification will be required by November 12, 2025.
Position Salary Range: $18.00/hr. to $20.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Assists in supervising and monitoring concessions area, Gallivan Hall, and rink areas, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment.
+ Assists with supervising all rink staff to ensure safe and effective operation.
+ Identifies and responds to scheduling issues by alerting Ice Rink Manager.
+ Assist in monitoring certification of instructors, guards, and other personnel to ensure proper training.
+ Assist in maintaining daily business operation of the rink and rental items.
+ Perform duties of Ice Rink Guard and Cashier when needed.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned by Ice Rink Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ One (1) year experience in effective supervision of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
+ Must possess a food handlers permit or be able to obtain one within 10 days of hire.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with the public, supervisors and other employees.
+ Ability to travel from one work location to another or pick up supplies.
+ Current certification in standard first aid & cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or be able to obtain within 10 days of hire.
+ Ability to be trained in the operation of Zamboni and skate sharpening machinery.
+ Experience with point-of-sale systems and ability to diagnose issues and find solutions.
Working Conditions:
+ This position requires moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull, or lift medium weights. The person in this position needs to sit, stand, crouch and bend within a retail service environment as well as outdoors. Occasional exposure to disagreeable elements such as workplace conditions, poor ventilation, uneven temperatures or extreme weather conditions.
+ Intermittent stress as a result of human behavior and the demands of the position.
+ Varied hours, seasonal.
