Position Summary
The School of Business at SUNY Geneseo is hiring a Director of Student Services. As a nationally recognized public liberal arts college and New York’s honors college, SUNY -Geneseo provides a warm and dynamic learning environment for more than four thousand students. The School of Business is home to over 800 undergraduate and graduate students. It offers six undergraduate majors, including Accounting, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, and Marketing, as well as two graduate programs in Accounting.
The Director will provide a wide range of support and guidance to business students to facilitate their success, including, but not limited to, academic advising, orientation, registration, process monitoring, policy and procedure interpretation, and general support. The director will also be involved in the school’s recruitment efforts and provide consultation and advice to prospective and admitted students. Additionally, the Director will be engaged in the school’s professional development certificate program and support curriculum revision and development. This is a 12-month professional staff position ( UUP SL3 Academic Advisor), reporting to the Dean of the School of Business at SUNY Geneseo.
Required Qualifications
+ A Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, English, counseling, or related fields from an accredited higher education institution.
+ Five years of full-time work experience in educational institutions.
+ Three years of academic advising experience with a proven track record of success.
+ Ability to serve students with diverse backgrounds.
+ Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Candidates for this position must be able to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
+ A Master’s degree in business, communications, English, counseling, or related fields.
+ Prior experience working at a business school.
+ Prior experience collaborating with community colleges and high schools.
+ Prior experience working with faculty members on student recruitment, curricular development, or other projects.

Coordinate the School’s Advisement & Registration Activities
+ Oversee the school’s peer advising program.
+ Train faculty advisors and student peer advisors.
+ Register all incoming students, including first-year students and transfers.
+ Process transfer credit approval, course waiver, course substitution, and other services for business students.

+ Advise all non-business students pursuing a minor in business school.

+ Collaborate with the admissions office to manage regular communications with prospective and admitted students and coordinate the school’s virtual and on-campus admission events.

+ Provide other services to students, such as registering first-year students and new transfers for their first-semester courses, facilitating the design and delivery of first-year students’ orientation and onboarding programs, and serving as a member of the School’s Student Service Committee to accomplish the committee’s objectives.
+ Serve as an ad hoc member of the School’s Curriculum Committee to facilitate curriculum revision and development.
+ Provide other services to the School and the College, such as advising school administrators on course scheduling and serving as the school’s designated representative on college committees.
