What You'll Do
Join our dynamic Enterprise Architecture team as an Enterprise Architect focused on the Data Domain, where you'll help shape the future of Principal's data landscape. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to developing foundational data standards and strategies that support our company's data-driven initiatives. You'll be part of transforming how we manage and utilize data across the enterprise.
As part of Principal's Enterprise Architecture Practice focusing on Data, you'll help build and enhance our modern data architecture capabilities. You'll learn to align technical solutions with business objectives while gaining hands-on experience in data modeling and design. This role requires someone who can adapt to rapidly evolving data technologies and collaborate with teams across the organization. As an individual contributor, you'll work alongside experienced architects to develop architectural guidelines and help implement effective data solutions. This position offers an excellent foundation for growing your career in enterprise data architecture.
+ Drive the development and implementation of enterprise data modeling standards, evaluating technologies, and architecting cloud platform data solutions and reference architectures.
+ Define and establish data architecture standards and governance frameworks, ensuring enterprise-wide alignment of processes and technology solutions with architectural principles and policies.
+ Spearhead the integration of artificial intelligence into our data architecture practices, creating innovative solutions to modernize and automate data modeling and design processes.
+ Design and implement advanced data architecture services, including knowledge graphs and metadata management capabilities, to transform how our organization understands and utilizes data assets.
+ Lead the evaluation and selection of data modeling technologies and tools, providing strategic recommendations that shape our technical roadmap.
+ Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader across the organization, building partnerships with key stakeholders and driving adoption of data architectural best practices through influence, education, and mentoring.

Who You Are
We are looking for someone with:
+ You have a bachelor’s degree or related experience.
+ 3+ years of experience working with data modeling, data design or data architecture required.
+ 2+ years of AWS cloud development experience required.
+ You have a solid understanding of shared services and a desire to reimagine how capabilities are delivered.
Additional preferred experience:
+ Knowledge of Snowflake technologies
+ GitHub experience developing and deploying through CI/CD pipelines.
+ Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and growth within data modeling & design or architecture field.
+ Experience with an Agile software development lifecycle and where Enterprise Architecture will provide value across the lifecycle.
+ Knowledge of financial and insurance industry
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$81900 - $182400 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
