We are seeking a First Line Leader at the Circleville, Ohio facility—30 miles south of Columbus, Ohio. This role will work with a diverse team to support the manufacturing of Vespel® Polyimide Resins.
**The position works a 12-hour rotating day schedule, including weekends, and supervises a staff of production employees in Vespel® manufacturing on a 12-hour rotating day/night shift schedule** .
The supervisor is responsible for the following: adherence to safety policies and procedures; maintaining standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance; communicating expectations with operational accountability; responding to personnel, operational, safety and environmental incidents; and ensuring work is completed in accordance with production schedules.
Your Key Responsibilities:
+ Set expectations and maintain personnel accountability for compliance with Core Values (EHS, Protect the Planet, Highest Ethical Behavior & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior.
+ Investigate incidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings
+ Develop and coordinate daily work schedules, assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads to meet production goals.
+ Provide leadership on day-to-day operations, including ensuring appropriate staffing through overtime
+ Coordinate operational activities across shifts and with other functional resources
+ Communicate up and down the line and ensure communications from team members are accurate and complete.
+ Monitor production lines to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
+ Collaboration with maintenance and technical to meet daily challenges
+ Work with Operations to improve safety, yield, and uptime. Maintain production quality and respond to issues
+ Communication of process variations and incidents to area manager, maintenance coordinator, and mechanics
+ Ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Conditions including production related components of a quality system, such as ISO.
+ Expected to lead and execute Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
+ Build and strengthen work team capabilities to include both technical and soft skills.
+ Provide proper training for operator job duties and perform job cycle checks.
+ Foster operational discipline with a culture of employee engagement, empowerment and ownership through leader standard work practices including participation in improvement activities.
+ Facilitate and coordinate activities with team members including Visual Performance Management, Problem Solving, Housekeeping and Standardization.
+ Digital HR responsibilities; pay changes, shift changes, hours changes, vacation/holiday entries, timecard approval
+ Personnel performance management (e.g. assessments, correction, mentoring)
+ Required to respond outside of normal working hours, as necessary, to safely support production needs.
+ Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+ Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
+ 3 years of manufacturing experience
+ Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; must build relationships and trust with operators and mechanics
+ Demonstrated skill in team building and achieving results
+ Ability to interact, coach and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels
+ Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks
+ Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
+ Ability to interact, coach, and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels
+ Self-managed/self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
+ Leads by example in every aspect of Operational Discipline
+ Experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, and other shop floor systems
Preferred qualifications** **:
+ Vespel® manufacturing experience or working with PSM critical processes/systems
+ Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification (can be acquired while in role)
+ Operations scheduling and planning experience
+ Familiar with commissioning and first start-up of equipment
+ Prior supervisory experience, either in a permanent or detailed-up role
