This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-time Construction Inspector Trainee for our Brentwood, TN office. Be involved in projects with our **Construction Management** Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges
Your Impact:
+ Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules and quantities.
+ Support senior project inspectors in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying and material sampling and testing.
+ Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
+ Perform a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing and processing field data.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma.
+ 0-2 years of road and bridge construction inspection and testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience.
+ The ability to attain the following certifications within 90 days +/- or as class scheduling allows: TDOT HMA Certified Roadway Inspector, TDOT Concrete Field Technician, Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Storm water certification, TDOT Aggregate Certified Technician, TDOT Nuclear Gauge Field Technician Certification, UT TTAP Workzone Traffic Control/Flagging, UT TTAP Guardrail Certification.
+ Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
+ General awareness of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
+ General awareness of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
+ Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
+ Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
+ Ability to perform physical activities required of the testing and inspection procedures including squatting, bending, lifting, climbing and traversing difficult terrain.
+ Good communication skills, both oral and written.
+ Basic computer skills.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
