    At Winslow Capital, this investment professional will join our dedicated, results-driven team in delivering successful client outcomes. We are seeking a Technology & Communication Services Sector Portfolio Manager (SPM) to assist the strategy’s Portfolio Managers (PMs) and other team members in sourcing and analyzing investment opportunities and managing current investments. We are also looking to build the next generation of leadership in our firm.

     

    As a SPM, you will collect and interpret company data to facilitate recommendations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology and communication services sector happenings and current events and conduct primary research from industry sources. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills with leadership potential. This position is in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    + The SPM will be reporting to the Portfolio Managers and support the entire investment team in making investment decisions and updating investment theses on current and prospective holdings.

    + Source new technology and communication services sector investment ideas, including semiconductors, through three primary methods: sector dynamic analysis, idiosyncratic fundamental work or Winslow Science screening.

    + Update reviews of each industry within the relevant sub-sector identifying key trends and market dynamics with a focus on identifying business headwinds and tailwinds, shifts in relative returns and disruptive technologies or business models.

    + Assemble and review data necessary to evaluate existing holdings and potential new investment ideas in the technology and communication services sector.

    + Collect, organize, and analyze economic, industry, ESG and company data and trends, sourced through various channels, including third-party research firms, interviews with industry sources, internal experts and databases, trade publications and online publishers.

    + Conduct industry and company analysis; evaluate how technology and communication services specific industries and individual companies work and how they compete in their markets.

    + Work closely with all members of the investment team and interact with members of the sell-side community and senior executives of prospective portfolio companies.

    + Use above-mentioned data to develop and inform the team’s perspective on the investment appeal of an industry and a specific company; this will include developing perspectives on industry size, industry competitive dynamics, companies’ value propositions, and companies’ management teams, among many other factors.

    + Conduct fundamental analysis on potential and current investments by, among other things, modeling (including projecting) companies’ income statement, cash flows and balance sheets in Excel.

    + Participate in evaluation of the ESG attributes of both current and prospective holdings, including dialogue on ESG strategies and goals with management teams.

    + Conduct valuation analyses that will inform conclusions about potential returns on current and prospective portfolio holdings. Such analyses may include discounted cash flow modeling and comparable company analysis.

    + Participate in proxy voting decision for current holdings.

    + Evaluate company and brokerage conference calls/meetings.

    + Participate in various Winslow Capital Investment team projects.

    + Participate in new business development, client servicing and due diligence meetings.

    + Conduct various administrative duties that are critical to the team, including updating databases in a timely and accurate manner and communicating to key constituents.

    + Write extensively (on a limited basis), to assist in producing quarterly valuation updates, client letters, and various other important communications. Strong writing skills are, therefore, important.

    + Periodically attend investment conferences and other industry events to represent Winslow and to meet and evaluate management teams of current and prospective holdings.

    + Assist with the analysis of private technology and communication services companies as needed in support of our private growth capital strategy.

    Base Pay Range: $183,000/yr - $256,000/yr

     

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
