Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provides close leadership for the Medical Assistants.
• Acts as liaison between Medical Assistants and Manager and liaison between Medical Assistants and other departments, may need to travel to other Iowa Heart Center offices.
• Attends committee meetings as requested.
• Maintains equipment.
• Ensures that Medical Assistants are current with all Mandatory requirements.
• Develops and maintains daily and weekly schedules, including work flow
• Provides orientation to the Clinical area for newly hired Medical Assistants.
• Assists Office Manager with supervision of all medical assistant staff, including performance evaluations, processing time cards, disciplinary actions, hiring, job training, counseling, and terminations in coordination with Human Resources.
• Maintains current policies and procedures.
• Responsible for IHC CMA competency completion
• Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Graduate from an accredited program for medical assistants, with 2 years clinical experience preferred.
• Current CMA/RMA certificate, in good standing.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained by the end of the orientation period (approximately six (6) weeks.
• Valid Iowa Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Cardiovascular Medical Terminology class completion within 1 year of hire
