Job Descriptions:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing drafting and design services by preparing, managing, and championing engineering documents and systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

+ Work independently to resolve existing problems and/or malfunctions expeditiously

+ Produce accurate complex mechanical drawings and 3-D solids in support of engineering and manufacturing

+ Interpret drawings, specifications, work instructions, and rough sketches to design layouts

+ Create illustrations, prototypes and diagrams for proposals, manuals and documentation requirements

+ Prepare revisions in accordance with engineering change requests

+ Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and edit parts list throughout the design process

+ Generate and maintain schematic symbols and footprint libraries

+ Assist other disciplines and recommend modifications and changes for design improvement

+ Work collaboratively with engineers, data control and configuration and production

+ Design for manufacturability and assist production floor as needed

+ Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

+ Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

+ Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

+ Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

+ Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

+ Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently

+ Effective time management and prioritization skills

+ Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, work instructions and component identifications

+ Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

+ Thorough knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and welding techniques

+ Thorough knowledge of MIL Standards and IPC Standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

+ AS degree, technical school credentials in related field or equivalent experience

+ A minimum of 6 years of experience

+ Intermediate experience with MS Office

+ Proficient in SolidWorks

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Office environment.

+ Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

+ Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboard, mouse, 10-key, phone).

+ Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment with multiple deadlines.

+ Limited travel, foreign and domestic, may be required.
