Principal Systems Development Engineer

As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will be adapting PowerEdge servers into purpose-built products for hyper-converged and software-defined storage solutions products that are many of the biggest, most high-profile enterprise products for Dell Technologies; some examples are the VxRail, PowerFlex and PowerScale product lines.  You will manage a successful partnership with the end solution systems engineering teams, PowerEdge engineering teams, marketing teams, and suppliers to ensure a world-class, purpose-built portfolio and product life cycle management process.

What you’ll achieve

As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and prepare studies and analyses of existing systems to support NPI Storage Product Line (PL)

You will:

+ Owns technical execution of solution enablement for programs that leverage PowerEdge & Purpose built platforms as well as translate requirements from PL Solution teams Product Management and Architects into engineering plans and monitor HW/FW/SW changes and communicate impacts to PL teams

+ Ensures engineering rigor, cross-functional alignment, and timely delivery identifying leverageable platforms and components, and close gaps with engineering team and

+ Develop committed schedules with HW Engineering and Dell Factory teams that align to PL schedule

+ Acts as technical liaison between PL teams and HW Engineering + Ext Teams

+ Represent HW Engineering in PL Solution Core teams and other meetings as well as be a single point of contact to drive defects to resolution as necessary to support Solution

Essential Requirements

+ Engineering degree and background working with Server or Storage systems

+ 10+ years of Server hardware/software debug/maintenance/operations experience and/or have a significant enterprise HW/SW product development background with a track record of delivery experience with ISG or Client within Dell

+ Strong understanding of product development life cycle.

+ Strong debug skills with enterprise server/storage/network equipment

+ Able to work onsite in Hopkinton, Round Rock or Austin offices

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The total targeted compensation range for this position is $153,000 – $198,000
