We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our federal buildings group in our Honolulu office. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on state of the art industrial and commercial facilities for Federal DoD and Civilian clients as well as Defense Contractors. You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You and our multi-discipline, highly interactive team will establish design bases, develop options and optimizations of selected design, and produce calculations, drawings, specifications, and other deliverables.

At Jacobs, our Mechanical Engineers design HVAC, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems for
government and institutional owners. Our engineers see a variety of project types and sizes in
geographies across the globe. Typical duties include these:
• Assisting in proposal development by estimating labor hours and developing technical delivery
approaches.
• Performing site surveys, existing facility assessments, client interviews, and initial project charrettes.
• Developing design calculations, drawings, and specifications, including regular coordination with other
design disciplines.
• Reviewing construction submittals and providing other assistance during the construction phase of a
project.
• Communicating regularly with the entire project team, from project inception to closeout, to maintain
alignment of scope, schedule, budget, and quality
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from ABET accredited program
• U.S. Citizenship
• At least 5 years of experience in Building Mechanical systems design, including these knowledge areas:
o HVAC design or domestic plumbing design or both
o Codes and standards relative to either HVAC or plumbing or both, including ICC, NFPA, and other technical documents
o Analytical software, such as for HVAC load and energy calculations or piping simulations
• Proficiency using Revit to develop contract drawings
• Skills in performing field walk-downs and inspections of existing and under-construction projects and facilities
• Experience editing CSI specifications
• Ability to contribute to or author technical reports
• Skills to thrive in a hybrid work environment in which you have frequent and effective interaction with co-workers, supervisors, and clients virtually.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Licensure as Professional Engineer (PE)
• Additional years of experience beyond the minimum listed above
• Availability to travel, both within the U.S. and overseas
