    *Location:* 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT

    *Department:* Pulmonary Medicine

    *Shift:* Full-Time, 12-Hour Night Shifts

    *Salary:* $79,000 – $118,400 per year (+ $4.75/hour night shift differential)

    Job Summary

    The *Respiratory Therapist 3 (RRT)* provides advanced cardiopulmonary care to patients across the WCHN network. This includes critical assessments, lab monitoring, and management of oxygen therapy, pharmacological agents, bronchial hygiene, airway management, and ventilator care. Key Responsibilities

     

    *

     

    Manage ventilator and rounding protocols; collaborate with MDs to assess cardiopulmonary status.

     

    *

     

    Reduce ventilator and ICU length of stay through effective patient care.

     

    *

     

    Assess and treat hypoxia and bronchospasm using oxygen therapy and bronchodilators.

     

    *

     

    Draw and analyze arterial blood gases; recommend therapy adjustments.

     

    *

     

    Provide non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP/CPAP) for adult, neonate, and surgical patients.

     

    *

     

    Educate patients and families on disease management and post-discharge care.

     

    *

     

    Respond to trauma alerts, Code Green, Code 33, and Code Blue emergencies; stabilize patients.

     

    *

     

    Safely transport ventilator patients.

     

    *

     

    Document charges, interventions, and patient care per department standards.

     

    *

     

    Attend mandatory in-services and department meetings; assist with staff orientation and training.

     

    *

     

    Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications

    *

     

    *Education:* Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.

     

    *

     

    *Licensure/Certifications:* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), CPR – Healthcare Provider, NBRC credentials.

     

    *

     

    *Experience:* Minimum 1 year; experience in ventilator management for adults and NICU preferred.

     

    Working Conditions

     

    *

     

    Manual dexterity and motor coordination required.

     

    *

     

    Exposure to occupational risks including odors, noise, and human waste.

     

    *

     

    Physical effort includes lifting up to 50 lbs.
